The J.League 2010 season kicked off on Saturday with a flourish. In one stadium after another, the teams came out and struck the opening tally before fans had even settled into their seats. If the opening moments of Saturday's contests are any indication, this is already shaping up to be a very dramatic season of football.

The 2010 J.League campaign kicked off with the annual Xerox Super Cup match, on Saturday. The tightly contested affair produced a familiar result . . . but with an unfamiliar scapegoat.

On Wednesday evening, Okada Japan finally played the sort o football that fans could watch without covering their eyes in despair or hanging their heads in shame. While still leaving something to be desired, at least the Bahrain match was a step in the right direction
